I'on Community & Neighborhood, Mount PleasantI'On was named after US Army & Militia Officer Jacob Bond I'On (b.1782).  When he died in 1859 he was laid to rest beside his wife in the Family Cementery approximately ½ mile north of the I'On Village office.

I'On is built on 243 acres and has approximately 760 homes. The community is based on a narrow streets feeling of downtown Charleston and is wrapped around one small and two larger lakes. It is situated between Shelmore Creek to the north and historic Mathis Ferry Road to the south.
